Bangladesh Cricket Board has appointed wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim new national all-rounder and captain Mahmudullah his deputy, the back-to-back home series against West Indies and Pakistan, ending speculation that has been spread for weeks.
BCB decision was unanimous at the meeting, which saves a little ‘time to make the appointment after the committee submitted the names of cricket operations, and messages Mushfique Mahmudullah.
The duo replaced Sakib al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal for both series in October and December. Tamim and Sakib was ignominiously fired after a disastrous tour of Zimbabwe in August.
Bangladesh has lost a one-off test for the return of Zimbabwe cricket after six years of exile, as well as a one-day series.

“I was at home to watch a game when BCB president called me and told me I would be the team leader. I felt good that I also saw my name on the TV immediately, “said Mushfique.
“It’s a big responsibility and I want to put some effort I can. It is a great challenge, especially because we could not fulfill our potential in the last lap.
“I always dreamed that someday I will run the country and I’m glad to be done.

Mushfique said his main task would be to help run one of the side as a whole.
